Below are examples of some of the events that take place during the school year:

School Events:

Valentine's Day

Learners pay for the privilege to dress in red, pink and white, in order to celebrate the day. Proceeds are used to subsidise the cost of transport and batteries for needy learners.

Swimming Gala

Inter-house swimming gala held on the premises in the first term. Parent support is encouraged.

St Dominic's Day – Our Patron Saint

A special assembly is held on this special day, where the children are reminded of their school’s history. This is almost always a school holiday: fun and treats are had by all!

Spring Day (1st of September)

Learners are encouraged to dress in something bright and colourful. Activities are organised around this theme.

Prize Giving and Concert

This is an annual event incorporating dance and drama. This is organised by the teachers and all children are encouraged to participate.

Civvies Day

Civvies day is held at the end of term as a fundraiser.

Matric Farewell

Open to learners from Grade 10 upwards. Matriculants are allowed to bring partners. This event is always enjoyed by learners and staff.

A Valedictory Service is held just before matriculants leave the school. This is held at the school and parents are invited to attend.

Villa Sports Day and Christmas Party

This event is organised for our young Junior School learners at the end of every year.

There is great excitement when Father Christmas arrives on the sports field bearing gifts for all.

Community Involvement

Learners are encouraged to participate in community projects in order to teach them the importance of helping others. For example, a special effort is made during Lent, to collect food for the underprivileged.

Parent Involvement

Parents are encouraged to participate in school activities and to serve on the School Governing Body.
They are also encouraged to become involved with existing fundraising projects such as:

  • My school card
  • Sale of Christmas Cards
